The Africa Global Workers MA Cohort is an exciting opportunity for career and associate Africa global workers to earn an accredited Master of Arts in Biblical Studies while remaining fully engaged in ministry. Offered in collaboration with Global University, the program is a distance learning degree that brings workers together in person twice per year as a cohort in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The aim is to deepen your knowledge of Scripture and equip you for leadership and cross-cultural ministry across the continent. The degree can be completed in 3 to 3.5 years through biannual sessions, with Global University offering a 70% reduced tuition rate exclusively for Africa workers.

The Facts

    • Open to both career and associate Africa global workers

    • Must have served at least one term in Africa

    • Must have an accredited bachelor's degree

    • 45-credit MA in Biblical Studies (15 courses) — for those with secular undergrad degrees

    • 36-credit option (12 courses) — for those with a Christian university / Bible college degree who qualify for up to 9 credits of advanced standing

    • Duration: 3 to 3.5 years

    • Degree issued by Global University; GU is accredited through the Higher Learning Commission

    • Completion requirements: all courses + capstone paper + cumulative 3.00 GPA

    • Students attend all sessions together as a cohort

    • Orientation: Sunday, November 8, 2026, 3 PM at ABC

    • Daily class schedule: Mon–Fri, 8:30 AM–1 PM and 2–4 PM (6 hours/day)

    • Weekends are free (study, church, explore)

    • 2 sessions per year (November and April typically)

    • Max 2 courses allowed as independent study in emergencies; more than 2 missed means exiting the cohort

    • Pre-course work required before arrival; post-course research paper due after each session

    • ~135 hours of study per 3-credit course

    • ~1,000 pages of reading per course

    • Pre-course: all textbooks read and written assignments prepared before arriving in Addis

    • In-class: assignments and presentations

    • Post-course: research paper submitted electronically

    • Textbooks provided electronically through GU/Logos; some via Kindle if not available in Logos

    • Seek approval from your Team Leader and Area Director
