A Pastor Friend Named BK

March 6, 2017

Greetings from the Mann family in Botswana, Africa. It has been a joy to minister and serve in Botswana for the last ten years.

The Assemblies of God World Missions Africa Region’s theme is, “For an increasingly redeemed and transformed Africa”. This is an amazing vision and objective. One of the ways we help to reach this objective is to train and mentor men and women at Assembly Bible College, as they sense a call to be pastors, evangelists, church planters, and missionaries. We believe that we can impact the country of Botswana more effectively by training and partnering with African nationals as they catch a burden and vision to preach the gospel and plant churches in villages all across the country. We are just one couple and our reach is limited, but when we pour our time and effort into the training of hundreds of students—then the possibilities of reaching the entire nation, and even nations beyond Botswana, is indeed possible.

We have a close Botswana pastor friend named BK. We first met him 9 years ago when he was a teenager. He was newly saved and attending a young church that we were helping in the northern region of Botswana. I remember preaching in that church some years back about the call of God and how God wanted to use Batswana to reach their nation. During that service he surrendered to God’s call and decided to go to the Bible College for training. I had the wonderful privilege of speaking into his life and being his instructor for nearly three years at the Bible College, helping him to prepare for God’s work. BK graduated from Assembly Bible College and started a church in a remote village in the extreme northwest Botswana. God blessed BK’s obedience and hard work drawing many to the church. I traveled the 12 hours north to preach in the church and was amazed as nearly 100 people met under a tree in the desert sand for church that morning.

Five months later I was able to travel back to BK’s church with a load of material and erect a steel church structure for him.

The new church building will seat 250 people. BK and the congregation were overjoyed! They are now preaching and working to fill that new church up.

Would you pray with us for the men and women who are at Assembly Bible College training to become pastors and leaders?

Thank you,

Matt and Debbie Mann
