Seventeen nations in three distinct zones form East Africa and the Indian Ocean Basin (EAIOB). From the high mountain peaks of Ras Dashan (Ethiopia), Mt. Kenya (Kenya), and Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) to the white sand beaches and the islands of the Indian Ocean, EAIOB stretches for thousands of miles. Pentecostal fervor washes against the onslaught of Islamic terror through the Horn of Africa and into the islands.
But the most beautiful resource of EAIOB is her people and her churches. In eleven of these countries we have either AGWM teams or AG national churches. In six of these nations, we have no teams, and no AG churches. The greatest need in our area is workers. We need workers to plant the church where it is not. And, we desperately need workers to come alongside our AG partner churches and encourage them to growth, depth, and to reaching the unreached within their borders, and in the countries that surround them.
We recognize that we are sent to plant, to nurture, and to partner with our AG national churches, with the goal of a redeemed and transformed Africa. Jesus clearly stated in Matthew 9:37 that “the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” That’s been my experience in EAIOB. We need pioneers, church planters, children’s workers, trainers, area missionaries, just to name the basics; we need workers.
Jesus also commanded us in that same text to “ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Please pray for workers to serve with us in EAIOB. And, please consider as you pray, “Is Jesus calling me to go?” Are you willing to go, to serve, to see the nations reached with the gospel of Jesus Christ, to see lives changed? Are you willing to be changed? Are you willing to join our team?
