All across South Africa I see amazing potential to reach the lost and to disciple new believers. Not that many years ago it was difficult for the majority of South Africans to travel even to the cities closest to them to share the gospel. Today there is freedom, and that freedom affords us a great opportunity to take God’s message to every village, township, suburb, and city.
Daily, the people of South Africa are being misled by self-proclaimed pastors and prophets. They are being abused and robbed in plain sight because those pretending to be spiritual leaders are not seeking to bring people to Jesus, but rather to line their pockets with riches. The people of South Africa are so desperate for truth, salvation, and help that they follow blindly. The Church is deeply affected as the masses struggle to know the difference between those who hold out false promises of health, success, and prosperity, and the Bible-believing churches that teach truth.
The root of the problem is a lack of solid biblical training for both pastors and church members. My passion for South Africa is for our pastors to not only go to Bible school for initial training, but to continue to grow in their knowledge of the Word and theology. My vision is to see not only those who are called to ministry studying God’s Word, but also every member of every church being discipled.
Our missionary team in South Africa focuses heavily on training in Bible school and District Schools of Ministry settings. We also focus on discipleship in all areas of the local churches: children, youth, men, and women. We believe that as we focus on training South Africans, they can use their new freedom to reach their family, neighbors, communities, and nation with the gospel.
This can happen—1. If we set goals, work together, and hold one another accountable and 2. If we have the support base back home to pray, fund, and send/go.
Would you pray for us as we put our hand to the plow for an increasingly redeemed and transformed South Africa? On our prayer page (http://www.agwmafrica.org/prayer), we have a section where you can post prayer for Africa. Would you post how you are praying for us in South Africa?
